The History

The history of the Old Limburg Markmen's Fair goes all the way back to 1876. At that time, it was still called the Big International Markmen's Fair. This name was changed in 1906 into the current name: Oud Limburgs Schuttersfeest (Old Limburg Markmen's Fair). This festival is celebrated together by Dutch and Belgian Limburg. In the early years, the shooting contest was very important, but nowadays the festival has grown to much more than that. 

The Old Limburg Markmen's Fair now consists of a number of activities. The shooting competition between the Limburg Markmen is of course still the highlight of the festival. Besides this competition, there is now also an annual parade with all the marksmen, the OLStival and there is also a children's OLS.
